Exciting Improvements at the Fort Heritage Precinct Reach Completion

Posted on May 29, 2018

Improvements at the Fort Heritage Precinct have continued in 2017 and 2018.  The parking lot at the Warden’s house was paved and improved with the addition of accessible parking stalls and ramps. Thanks to the new brick-coloured walkways that have been constructed, the site is easier than ever to navigate and visitors with strollers, walkers, and wagons will be able to access all parts of the site all year round. Upgrade work to these new trails is being planned for early summer 2018.

The palisade posts in the fort were also replaced in 2017, and the addition of lights to the trails and entrance and directional signage for the site was completed in the spring of 2018. Many of the accessibility improvements were made possible by funding from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

We are so excited about these recent improvements and are thrilled that the Fort Heritage Precinct has become more accessible over the last year!

"Our field trip was very well organized and full of interesting activities. Our presenters were prepared for our arrival and showed interest in the activities that they were leading. I would have no hesitation in recommending this field trip to colleagues. It was a very informative and interesting day."
