Pickling and Preserving Workshop

FREE Culture and Recreation Admission For Wildfire Evacuees: In response to the ongoing wildfires, the City of Fort Saskatchewan is offering complimentary admission to The Fort Heritage Precinct, Dow Centennial Centre, and Harbour Pool to all BC & NWT evacuees. Simply present your ID at reception!

Join us for pickling and preserving at the Fort Heritage Precinct! We will make modern (but timeless) recipes to take home, as we teach you about historic pickling and preserving.

Each participant will be shown how to make their own sour cabbage, fridge pickles, and a fruit preserve (type will depend on supply). All supplies included, excluding the weight needed for sour cabbage making. Bring your own weight (a clean rock, bag of marbles, etc.) or food-safe weights will be available to purchase. Three jars to take home/partcipant!

Call or email the museum for more details, and register here (GoLeisure account required, no additional cost of creating an account).

"Our field trip was very well organized and full of interesting activities. Our presenters were prepared for our arrival and showed interest in the activities that they were leading. I would have no hesitation in recommending this field trip to colleagues. It was a very informative and interesting day."
